For Pickerel Point - Promised Land State Park: This is our usual stop over when we head south. The sites are full hookups, paves patios, some are tight. It is a popular place. We liked it also because there is a good 9-10 mile bike loop can do from campground and nice hiking for pups. Watch for bears. Seen one every visit.

For Pickerel Point - Promised Land State Park: Nice area with both tent/RV sites and walk-in tent sites along the lake. There are also a few cabins for rent. Three well-maintained comfort stations with showers and dish-washing stations.
There is a craft shack where kids can go to make a variety of nature- and history-related crafts. I had a long chat with the ladies who run the program. You couldn't ask for more dedicated and enthusiastic people to work with the kids!
There is a small museum that tell ps the fascinating history of the CCC (Civil Conservation Corps).
There are also evening programs offered at the amphitheatre.
The lake is man-made and paddling is interesting due to the unusual vegetation and the remnants of huge stumps.
I will be returning to the Pickerel Point campground again.
It should noted that even I camped there in June 2016, I drove north on Hwy 390. The winding road was rather uneven. At one point, the road loped to the right, and I had a fearful moment when I thought I might go over the edge. Fortunately, I was just pulling a small tent trailer. I would recommend that, if possible, campers with larger rigs go via I-84 and south on 390 to the park.

Nancy
For Pickerel Point - Promised Land State Park: I like it here! I try to come only during the week as it does get crowded on weekends. This isn't the place for partiers, quiet time starts at 9 pm. The Rangers are polite, but seem to have a thing about where your car is parked. They have 1 signed parking spot per campsite. However, I was at a walk-in site and my site's parking spot was pretty far from my campsite, I drove into the campsite to unload my car, and was told I can't park there. (The campsite had plenty of room for more than 1 car, the roadway to get in was obviously used before, so I don't understand their parking rules.) But once I am set up, the place is great. Showers, bathrooms, biking, hiking, and a small beach/swimming area at the lake. Just make sure to watch were you park!
