For Turkey Bayou Campground: I noticed the description said that there's restrooms, if there were, they are no longer here .anyway, my review:
This is a primitive site. It's a gravel loop that links up to several camp spots. It's very open with minimal to no trees between the sites. We set up camp right on the water. The couple next to us was doing some night fishing and in the morning it looked like they were successful. There are only fire rings and picnic tables here, nothing else. This place is ran by a gentleman who came here often as a child and now sponsors it himself. We did not meet him, but some campers near by did and said he was nice. Because of this there is no charge to stay here, just sign in at the sign in post (if the notebook is there). Once we got over the fact that there were no restrooms of any sort this campsite grew on us. The pond it sits on is pretty (cause for lots of mosquito's, put on LOTS of bug spray) and calming. Steam rose from it in the morning and it was really cool. At night the stars are incredible. You are WAY out in the middle of no where and you can see the milky way and an incredible amount of stars, more than I've seen in a long time. We really enjoyed it. The camp sites are far enough apart that the distance provides enough privacy. There were three other groups at this site so we all had plenty of distance. I don't know that I would stay specifically here again, but it make me reconsider what I look for when I look into staying places. The openness and water really worked out well despite my initial hesitations. My husband and I had a pretty good experience here.
