For Heery Woods Park: This is a well maintained State Park run by the county. Currently, there are 18 electric only sites and several places undesignated places for RVs or tents. The newer upper level has 11 back-in gravel sites. The older lower level is mostly grass and can be soft after rainfall. The park is very popular with local residents for fishing on the nearby dam or swimming on the river bank. If you have children, it is necessary to watch them near the dam. Fish can be seen trying to swim up the dam and the water’s current can suck the best swimmer under and drown. Fish in the river include Catfish, Bass, and Northern Pike. There is a steady stream of vehicles driving through the park every day just to look. Hiking and biking trails are excellent. There are stations along the trail where bike self maintenance/repair can be done. The park employees try very hard to give everyone a good experience. Significant improvements are planned for the future, so this park deserves watching.
