Home Wherever WeRoam
For Labonte Park: Nice free place to dry camp. The park was pretty quiet while we were there during the week. There is a lot of highway noise. I called Corpus Christi City Hall the morning that we were going to arrive. They sent an email requesting all the information you need to provide. They then sent the permit. There was no need to go to City Hall. Both AT&T and Verizon worked well here.

For Labonte Park: Called 361-826-7529 several days in advance and spoke with a very helpful woman at the parks department. I was able to obtain the permit by email. They required vehicle make, color and license numbers; address; date of stay; names of people staying in the RV and your driver’s license number. You are permitted to stay 6 days per month. One site would have probably accommodated our 40’ RV and toad, but it was already taken. Many other sites are large enough for our RV with the tow vehicle disconnected. Picnic tables and charcoal grills available. You definitely have road noise here. Easy on/off the road.

Off Our Rocker RV
For Labonte Park: Free park adjacent to a busy highway next to a river. Permit required and obtainable in person or via email. 3 day maximum stay but the park director may grant an additional 3 days. Level hard surface parking areas. No electric, water or dump but does have bathrooms and garbage cans. There is a 12'6" bridge when approaching from the south. No obstruction from the north.

For Labonte Park: The only good thing about this place is they say it is free for 3 nights. But you have to have a permit. The office and all facilities are closed in this park. The only phone number on the signs to call for information has no area code. After we figured out the area code the number connected us an to automated voice recording with options for the city of Corpus and no option to select for information about any parks or permits. Once you get a real person on the line they connect you to Parks & Rec. voice mail. We left a number but before anyone called us back a Park guy came by and threatened to fine us $200 for not getting a permit. Very poor system for managing campers.
