For Bear Creek Campground: Registration is required, including documenting and displaying a Washington “Discovery Passâ€, but there’s no additional nightly fee. The 7-day stay limit is “Strictly Enforcedâ€. The forest setting and ample site spacing provides privacy for most sites. Most have a metal fire ring and a picnic table. There is no freshwater supply and no trash receptacles. Based on a few visits I’ve made over the years, it appears the campground is only marginally managed or monitored during winter months, resulting in sporadic maintenance, and also use by some “unique†individuals. The adjacent river is beautiful but only accessible by a fairly steep, primitive trail. Verizon coverage is useable; AT&T is barely functional depending on your location in the campground, and who knows what else. The nearby highway creates some background noise, but it’s not bothersome.
