For Mckinney Falls State Park: We stayed here in August for Bat Fest. The temp was over 100 degrees every day. We were in site 11 with a 40' Class A with towed F150. The site had 50 amp and water. Pump out was convenient enough at campground entrance. Sites were well spaced and mostly private. Site 11 and 12 are sort of a shared area. Site 11 has a slight incline that required leveling boards under our rear wheels. The park is fun, with plenty of hiking. It was very dry while we were here, and the falls were just trickles, but still fun. Old Baldy is a 500 year old cypress on one of the trails. Washrooms need a serious refresh and were very hot (no ventilation). It was a really hot weekend and the campground stated that try were full for our visit, however there were at least 5 open sites the entire time we were here. Bad campers making reservations and then not cancelling! With that said, the electric load for the park was no doubt quite high. But this is the first time our electrical system has shut down for low voltage. And it happened about a dozen times. Nothing they can really do about that, but be forewarned! 20-25 minutes to downtown Austin. Would certainly come to Austin again, but maybe not here.

For Mckinney Falls State Park: Being mid July it’s really hot, especially in the direct sun. That being said, we first got stuck with site 19, unless you’re here in the winter I’d suggest a different spot. We ended up at 26, it’s a back-in but there is plenty of room across from your site to maneuver your vehicle. We have a Mega cab Ram w/30ft TT and had no problem getting it in. This site is very shaded and roomy. The park is pretty convenient as far as parking distance to the falls. The swimming and fishing is great. You can find shade or sun while at the swimming spots. If I had to find a downfall it would be the showers and restrooms would get a 2.5 out of 5 stars, I’d use them, but wouldn’t want to touch anything.

For Mckinney Falls State Park: Great State Park. Gate locks at 10pm, sites level. Stayed in Site 1 this week (May 21). Great sites, spread out, quite, large, hiking and bike trails great.
Can’t go wrong here if you want close to Austin.

For Mckinney Falls State Park: Second time staying here. Booking is a bit odd but if you can get a spot they're great. Try and get there right at check in time so you can select your location. Booking ahead highly recommended. Close to Austin but far enough away to not have to deal with Austin's growing traffic challenges. Highly recommended.

For Mckinney Falls State Park: Texas Parks phone reservation system is broken. Check-in system was disorganized. Many campsites are not level. Some pull-thrus are on the side of hills. Bathroom doesn't have soap dispensers. Water filters can't be hooked up directly to faucets because they're too low to the ground. Sites don't have sewer holes. The main advantage is that it's in Austin. Be very careful driving in this city. The roads are not designed well and the drivers are bad.

For Mckinney Falls State Park: This was a wonderful stay. Hiking and biking is great in the park. The creek is nice and the birds and flowers were cooperating in March. The campsites are well spaced, lots of trees, covered cabanas. Restrooms clean and good showers. Hosts kept to themselves and no one bothers you here. Only down side is this area is being surrounded by housing developments. Good side; you can get to Austin and urban fun easily.

For Mckinney Falls State Park: Paved, widely spaced sites in a lovely park. 15 minutes into Austin, but feels like another planet. There is a $6/day gate charge which is zero if you get a $70 state parks pass, which also gets you half-price on one camping day for four visits per year.
