For Mckinney Falls State Park: I give this park 5 stars. I am new to rv camping, having tent camped in the past. I can't find anything negative other than the sites not being level but I have been told that it is rare to find level sites in state and national parks so I won't hold that against the. It is quiet, the spacing is good, and the is plenty of room. The restrooms are clean and there is plenty of hot water in the shower. The staff is a very friendly bunch. I was hoping for a pull through site but got a back in. I really had no trouble parking my 28' MH with my motorcycle attached. This is a very popular park so reservations well ahead of time are reccomende!

For Mckinney Falls State Park: Beautiful park. Large sites. Clean restrooms. Quiet. Relaxing. Right in Austin, but feels miles away.

About half of the park attractions were closed due to spring flood damage, but none of the campsites were closed. I wanted to do some mountain biking on the Honestead trail, but you have to cross the creek at the lower falls area and I felt the current was too fast. It may be alright for someone younger, but I'll go another day.

All and all a quite good experience.

In a previous review, I stated I didn't do the Mountain Bike trail because of the creek crossing. I changed my mind and did it.

The crossing was not bad. Water 2 - 3 inches, a little slippery but not bad.

The trails (there are two - Homestead and Flint rock) are not epic trails. They are mostly flat, with some ups and downs but basically beginner level trails. Toward the end of the Homestead trail, you travel right by the Texas State Parks and Wildlife Headquarters complex, which has picnic tables and bike racks. I don't know why I was told by the ranger you have to cross the creek to get to the trail because it is an easy bike ride on a concrete path to the complex. Maybe the just want to keep you in the park.

Larry

For Mckinney Falls State Park: one of the most attractive, spacious and comfortable camp grounds I think I have ever stayed in for our huge site you could not see or hear from another site. Other sites may not have been quite so nice but all were more than adequate. And so convenient to Austin.
